care to mingle with the other side of the world? students are typically not encouraged to do so, but just so long as one does not reveal themselves to any muggle, the headmaster will not object. It is especially essential for one to be among them for the purpose of muggle studies, especially if one wishes to enter into a career in muggle-wizard relations.

the wizard-friendly part of london. a number of establishments, such as shops and the well known leaky cauldron can be found here. this place is at its busiest in the days before school starts as all manner of young witches and wizards gather needed supplies for another year of learning.

this is one place where no witch or wizard in their right minds would want to end up. only the most heinous of criminals go here to spend their remaining days contemplating their actions and their fate. in the days of yore, it is said that dementors served as guards here. Thankfully that is no longer the case; those most dreadful creatures could literally suck out one’s soul.

the first thing that students and visitors alike see when they enter hogwarts (duh). The entrance hall and great hall are truly sights to behold. however, one would be advised against visiting the staff room and especially the dungeons, where the slytherins call home, unless you actually belong there. The consequences could be - severe.

not much to this area of the castle, save for the kitchens and the classrooms, perhaps two of the most important sections of hogwarts. come to the kitchen at any hour of the day or night if you feel a bit peaky, as the house elves are always eager to serve. this floor is also where the vast majority of classes will take place. don’t be late, or the Loud Speaker will make your tardiness known to the whole student body and faculty!

the girls’ restrooms are located here. when nature calls, this is where you answer it. Just beware of moaning myrtle, whose misery knows not the bounds or mortality. That only stands to reason since she IS a ghost and all. They say that misery loves company, and misery, thy name is myrtle.

the hospital wing and the trophy rooms are located here. if you are injured, the school nurse would be more than happy to patch you up. Just don’t expect the greatest bedside manner, but you’ll at least be in good hands medically. want to admire some shiny hardware? go to the trophy room. there is also a statue of a humpbacked witch here, which is rather curious indeed

the most voluminous library known to wizard-kind is located on this floor. anything and everything one could wish to research about magic can be found on these shelves. just be careful not to nose around in books that you may not understand or be able to handle. they call it the restricted section for a reason.

the other set of bathrooms are located here but are only for use exclusively by the school prefects. as such, these restrooms are especially tricked out to reflect their status. they alone have the password to enter here, and any attempts to gain entrance otherwise are futile. prefects are also forbidden to share this information or risk the wrath of the headmaster.

the legendary room of requirement is housed here. legendary but not well known among the vast majority of today’s students, but when one REALLY needs something, this is where it can be found. if only those walls could talk

among the many towers that are about the grounds, one can find the astronomy tower where one can study the cosmos, as well as the gryffindor and ravenclaw towers. the view from any of them is killer; sometimes the greatest kind of magic is the view of the setting sun from atop a tower.

there is SO much more to hogwarts than that stuffy old castle. among the many other sights here at the school is the lake, the forbidden forest (named so for a reason; anyone caught there without permission gets detention and loses House points!), and the quidditch pitch. feel free to explore, but do so at your own risk. aside from detention, a few blows from the ancient whomping willow never feel too good.
